"This Bank of the River"

This Bank of the River (Darya Kay Iss Paar) tells the story of Gull Zareen, a young woman living in the remote mountainous region of Chitral in Northern Pakistan. Trapped by the cold isolation of her surroundings and suffocated by rigid cultural norms, she faces a deepening depression that no one around her acknowledges. Inspired by the alarming rise in suicide rates among young women in Chitral, the film holds a mirror to society's treatment of mental health, domestic violence, and the unequal opportunities given to women in Pakistan's most remote communities.
